Far too much terrorism analysis & policy narrative is driven by [accurate] assessments of ' #AlQaeda Central's' relative weakness, but the extent to which affiliates (especially in #Africa ) have learned, adapted & expanded thru 'localization' goes dangerously under-acknowledged.

The problem is, #Biden has offered ZERO in the way of #Syria strategy, merely a half-hearted status quo approach, which isn't sustainable & has seen conditions worsen & leverage decline.

The quotes from #Biden officials in this Barak Ravid piece underline the extent to which there's still no actual strategy in place -- for #Gaza or wider #MiddleEast issues. They miscalculated in Jan 2021 & have been in reaction mode since October 2023.

Pro- #AlQaeda magazine 'Incite the Believers' issued its 3rd edition 2 days ago -- dedicated to #Syria & mostly to critiquing/inciting against #HTS .
