I'm thrilled we're launching our #MakeHistory campaign today. Tune in to ITV News soon to see a brilliant investigation by Daniel Hewitt, including Crisis research with Zoopla, showing why ending homelessness must be at the top of the political agenda 👇🏾👀🏡

This explains the main reason homelessness is going up. Homelessness IS a housing problem. Until we have a Westminster Govt who even acknowledges that, then we have no hope for improvement.

And in case anyone needs convincing of the link, here's a map of homeless rates across the country (left) and house prices (right). See a pattern?

Another important study into the key drivers/solutions to homelessness (US based but plenty of recognisable similarities w/Britain). No surprise that all routes both into & out of homelessness involve housing. Shame too many decision makers in UK govt don’t get this

" it is the funding structure that should be the focus of any scepticism, rather than the Housing First model itself. " Absolutely, spot on, as always, from @AlexLSmith1983 . Such an odd and circular argument to have to refute....

Homelessness is a housing issue. Most people are homeless because of a lack of a safe, settled & truly affordable home. If people do need access to support services, having a home also makes it possible to engage, instead having to battle the trauma of homelessness everyday

The term 'vulnerable' can also be stigmatising, which is why we're proposing to update the Homes for Cathy commitments to make it clear that people experiencing homelessness are also disadvantaged and underserved by existing policy and practice.

In our new blog, South Yorkshire Housing Association Charlotte Murray looks at the local partnerships the association is nurturing to provide housing and support to people seeking sanctuary & fulfil its H4C commitment to contribute to ending migrant homelessness. homesforcathy.org.uk/2023/07/25/nur…

Have been looking out for this 🤓…really would’ve liked to see more on expectations for tackling homelessness but proposals are frustratingly weak on this. Our work w/ Homes for Cathy provides a good starting point for some reasonable asks that have potential for notable impact

Yes absolutely! excellent to see the launch of the #everyonehomecollective PRS Routemap promoting the PRS as a way out of homelessness

Spent the morning keeping quiet and not using any bandwidth while @EllaRHancock chaired her way through this, engaging hundreds with a compelling case for a housing led end to homelessness in Central & Eastern Europe. Super proud.

Housing Associations have a crucial role in preventing and ending homelessness. I’m really proud to have joined the board of Homes for Cathy. It would be great to see Housing sector colleagues at our conference in London later this month. homesforcathy.org.uk/2023-conference

Anyone who lives in Hastings can have their say on the new housing allocations policy. The policy sets out how the council decides whether someone can apply for social housing and how high they should be placed on the housing register, depending on their individual needs.
