We held our first journal club of 2022! And we thought we'd share some of the papers we discussed. Read on for some highlights!

First, a paper from The Lancet on Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) – a leading cause of death around the world that disproportionately affects low-resource settings. There were an estimated 4.95 million deaths associated with bacterial AMR in 2019 Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME)

Next: a phase 3, DBRPCT in NEJM. Pts who had 3 or more episodes of C. difficile infection received SER-109 or placebo after standard-of-care antibiotic treatment. SER-109 was superior to placebo in reducing the risk of recurrent infection. nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… Luxury Watch Gang
