I welcome the announcement by President Macron that 🇫🇷 will recognise 🇵🇸 in September. This is an important contribution towards implementing the two State solution, which offers the only lasting basis for peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians alike.

Next week’s UN conference is another important step. As President Macron says, peace is possible. I call on all to redouble efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages and humanitarian aid at scale into Gaza.

President Macron announced in a letter dated July 24th addressed to the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, that France will proceed with the recognition of Palestine as a State at the United Nations General Assembly next September.

I warmly welcome President Emmanuel Macron’s intervention as France is to become the first G7 nation to recognise the state of Palestine. This is very significant.

I welcome President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to ending the war in Gaza and securing the release of all hostages. I expect Israel to engage resolutely on this basis. Hamas has no choice but to immediately release all hostages and follow this plan.
