Just kicking off a 3-day workshop examining progress incorporating environmental flows into monitoring of SDG indicator 6.4.2 on water stress. Follow FAO Land, Soil and Water for regular updates throughout the workshop. Nearly 20 countries presenting progress! China is presenting first.

For the first time in over a decade I’m not spending reading week pottering about with Helene Burningham and UCL Geography students in the wetlands of NE Mallorca...so a potter around a local wetlands will have to do for the time being...


In the last introduction to a UCL Geography MSc lecture recorded from the river bank I said it was important to get away from our computers every so often. Difficult for a module on MIKE SHE modelling! So, for the next one, the next best thing...(the Jura Whisky is medicinal).

We apply the TEFRIC ERFA environmental flow approach (developed with Natural Environment Research Council funding) to >57K pairs of baseline-scenario river flow time series for 321 major river basins that cover c50% of the Earth's land surface.
