Still in the Adriatic crust, but today Durham Earth Science found minerals indicating high pressure conditions; jadeite, glaucophane and phengite - the first hints of subduction related to the Alpine Orogen! #subduction #blueschist #eclogite #fieldwork #handlens

Today Durham Earth Science ventured further into the Alpine Orogen and found some oceanic lithosphere that had been subducted to ~100 km depth! We investigated lovely lawsonite blueschist pillows & serpentinite with roddingised pods. #fieldwork #blueschist #serpentinite #lawsonite

Great talk by Bex Robertson today at #GGRiP2024 The Geochemistry Group - explaining rock mechanics to a room full of geochemists is no mean feat, well done! #proudsupervisor #isotopes #rockmechanics
