First week check in with Leadership team with a SWOT protocol! Now that we’ve lived 24/25 for a week, where are we strong, what opportunities do we need to take, & what tweaks are needed operationally, instructionally, & civically before we get too far in? #bettertogether

Our first two COLTS to receive Positive Principal Phone Calls signed our poster today! Proud of these COLTS! They were A-List stars this week!

This amazing admin team, plus Mrs. Cash, completed calibration walks in 5 out of 6 grade levels today to start our year supporting teachers, and growing in the implementation of observation and feedback cycles! It’s Showtime!

One of my favorite things about being in classrooms is listening to the students. One highlight- a 2nd grader explaining the difference between fiction & non-fiction. “Fiction is like a boy jumping & going all the way to the moon. Non-fiction is, you know, the laws of physics”

We enjoyed a great PTO & Parent University night tonight! We hosted over 40 parents both in person & online. Parents learned about PTO goals & opportunities, the MAP assessment purpose & uses, & the HCS Code of Conduct! Engagement is increasing & our community grows stronger!

Thank you to the Henry County Police Department, School Resource Officer Division, for the donation of stop signs for our school! We can level up our traffic directing game! 😁

Today we had our bus safety drills! Then, we treated our amazing bus drivers to a delicious appreciation breakfast! Thank you to our drivers for always keeping our students safe & for being the first HCS smile our students see in the morning, & the last they see as they go home!

Our Colts learned all about bus safety today! We are thankful for our OES bus drivers and bus monitors, and the HCS transportation department. To show our thanks we ended the morning with breakfast and a small token of appreciation donated by our wonderful staff! #WinningforKids

It’s Green and Gold Friday Ola Elementary! The OHS football players, cheerleaders, and drum line were here this morning to welcome our Colts to school! Cheering our Mustangs on to victory at their game against Locust Grove tonight! We Are Ola! 💛💚

Our Green and Gold event was a huge success! It was great to see so many OES families come out for the pre-game fun Ola High. A strong community leads to strong students! Now let’s cheer these Mustangs on to victory! WE ARE OLA!

First “Take away Tuesday” PD of the year: Science of Reading Vocabulary routines! We are building our toolbox of vocabulary strategies to scaffold access to grade level text and increase engagement!

Visiting reading classes has been a joy this week! Seeing Amira, small group instruction with close reading, and vocabulary strategies in action is inspiring! We are engaging readers!

OES parents, are you curious about ways you can promote reading, vocabulary & comprehension at home? Join us for our next Parent University on 9-11-24 at 6:30 pm! We will explore literacy strategies to promote reading growth in easy, fun, & engaging ways with your students!

Our 4th and 5th grade orchestra kicked off this week Ola Elementary! We are proud of these students for taking on this challenge & grateful for Mrs Bain, orchestra teacher from Ola High, for giving her time to pour into our Colts. We have a full house! Get ready OMS_HCS! #WeAreOla
