Marc from Carri Project James Hutton Institute is today exploring riparian zones in the German Harz mountains with Andreas Musolff UFZ for our future shared fieldwork into #riparian process and #climate change.

This new paper shows a need for improving C stock and reactivity estimates in riparian wetlands, across catchments and countries and representing them in scaling frameworks. Carri Project is tackling this.

The #CarriProject team finished installation and soil sampling at 2 out of 3 #riparian observation sites in #LakeDistrict. Looking forward to a second visit soon to finish the last installations. Thanks to Prof Phil Haygarth Jess Davies for the support and great field assistance.

Past informs the future…colourful mottles depict the history of water, chemical conditions and landscape context in this #riparian UK soil. Together with our biogeochemical analyses and experiments, this helps us predict altered cycles of nutrients with #climatechange
