ICYMI: Earlier this week, teachers shared stories about violence in the classroom. Unlike other jurisdictions, Saskatchewan does not have a reporting procedure so incidents often go unreported and inadequately addressed.

Samantha Becotte (Samantha Becotte) joined North Battleford teachers today and had a simple message for government.

'We've had a decade—a generation!—of kids who haven't received the supports that they truly need. Get back to the table. Start making real commitments.'

In case you missed it: Teachers are being asked to do more with less, while divisions are stretched thin.

'We know it’s not sustainable to keep going with what we currently have, and we know that has to change.'

It's been a busy couple of weeks for education in Saskatchewan, and government continues to push their tired rhetoric and false numbers.

As #EdSK Min. Jeremy Cockrill goes on a self aggrandizing tour here are the facts:

1. Funding per student in #sask has fallen by $4k in the past decade

2. The 2.5% increase from last year does not even cover inflation

3. QIS schools received a 25% bump

Priorities are clear

Students, parents and teachers all want the same things: smaller classes, less complexity, more supports.

It's been done in other provinces and is not a novel concept—despite what our government says.
