a party - frivolous on the surface- demands a sincerity or an anti-nihilism that can’t be faked. it asks you to show up in the flesh, engage with others face to face and center intimacy and decorum, even if you wish to hide

Stop what you're doing and read this: "Around her neck was the pendant of St. Michael that her husband was wearing when he was shot. The medics had ripped it from his body while attempting to stop the bleeding. A trace of blood remained in the crevice of the cross." “I’ve had

I agree that those interested in leadership, history and politics (and law) should read Helen Andrews essay. The trouble is that grand theories are risky because they tend to underestimate the complex causes of a phenomenon. That is very much true with the Great Feminization

I asked young Catholic writers this question: In an age of ideology & amid appetites chasing power, honor, pleasure, and wealth, how are God & the Catholic Church relevant to the anxious concerns & uncertain direction of college students? Word on Fire wordonfire.org/articles/catho…

Made my first pilgrimage to Hillsdale College this week. I told the kids that in my more than decade of taking Hillsdale journalism interns, I’ve truly never had a bad one. Now I understand why. Incredibly curious and interested students, being taught to do things right by John J. Miller.

At some point the Democrats basically made it clear that no pro-life Catholic could remain under the party umbrella. It would be a huge strategic error to do the equivalent of making it impossible to reconcile women’s voting and employment with the current conservative movement.

I wonder if there are any literary or societal touchstones that might illustrate the tremendous psychic and physical damage caused by man's hubris in attempting to reanimate the dead.

Rachel Cohen Booth Ruth Whippman You can’t go after feminine vice without a vision of feminine excellence. You can’t slam men for toxic masculinity without having a positive vision for men. Neither men nor women can live according to a “do and be less!” call to arms.

I lost my mother young, and will never get to talk to her about my wedding, future kids, etc. The last thing I or anyone needs is a false image of their loved one to play pretend with. 2wai, don't profit off of grief.

It was a blast covering the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops fall conference for The Pillar! I interviewed a good number of bishops and wrote some solid stories, which you should read at The Pillar. Oh, and I learned a lot and had a blast working with JD Flynn and Ed. Condon.
