I had so much love and respect for Nicky when we worked together in the Assembly. She knew more than anyone about planning and was always so kind to everyone. And she was also a titan of Highgate community action too. Such sad news.

The deliberate underfunding of our NHS over the last 14 years has pushed our NHS to breaking point. I will be doing what I can to push press the new Government to commit to solutions, which should not be sticking plasters which outsource services to the private sector.

Still reading through the Grenfell report but today is an important reminder of the racism so many Londoners encountered in the years, days, and minutes leading up to this tragedy, which in times of crisis can prove deadly. Grenfell's residents deserved better.

“The system isn’t broken it was built this way.” My love and respect to everyone who survived Grenfell and the relatives and friends of those who died for getting through this long seven years. I’ll keep pushing the Govt to fix the wider, systemic issues of power that led here.💚

Today in Parliament I asked the Prime Minister to help fix wider systemic gaps not covered by the Grenfell Inquiry recommendations, or the previous Govt, to give residents more power and rights to information about their safety. He promised to consider it, for which I thank him.

The length of time it has taken to get this far after the horrific disaster and lives lost at Grenfell is patently unjust. There has been disgraceful buck-passing and Government must act now to short circuit this and make sure people can go to bed at night knowing they are safe.
