Every sick day, training, exec mtg, etc was possible because teachers took turns over the years coming into my classroom, teaching my plan to children they had to build a rapport with in minutes. I hope I made their work as easy as they made mine. Thank you, today & every day!

"It's quite often said that when an elder passes away, it's like you're losing a volume of an encyclopedia." Specialist teachers like Keane are working hard to pass on Indigenous languages. We need more teachers like Keane. #ItTakesATeacher #bced #bcpoli bit.ly/3Npqjza

Our BCTF delegation had a productive meeting yesterday with Rachna Singh in Victoria, where we shared some of the realities of working in a teacher shortage and highlighted the importance of retaining experienced teachers who care #bced #bcpoli

BCTF stands with Unite Here Local 40 and the BC Federation of Labour in their fight for fair wages and job protections at the Sheraton and Radisson Blu hotels in Richmond. We do a lot of our meetings there and won’t be back until workers are treated fairly. #bced #bcpoli

It’s a beautiful evening to wait with thousands of others on foot, bike and boat for the fireworks at English Bay. #Vancouver

.Clint Johnston says parents deserve answers to Qs like, "Is this the teacher my child’s going to have all year? ... Is there a teacher for my child’s class, or is it someone who’s backfilling just for a little while? And, sometimes ... is this teacher certified?” #bcpoli #bced

We all need to organize against efforts in #cdnpoli and on #bced school boards to take Canada backwards. When youth are supported and free to be themselves, they thrive. American-style right wing rhetoric will cause harm, pain, and make schools less safe. cbc.ca/news/politics/…

Emotional as Laver Cup session 2 starts. So happy I can be here with my 82 year old mom to watch her favourite sport live. #lovemom #LaverCup.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s comments represent a huge step backward in our movement toward a more inclusive and accepting society. It’s discouraging to see trans women, who represent a small and vulnerable segment of the population, being used for political gain… 1/2

BC teachers stand with our colleagues in Saskatchewan, who are fighting for the fair class size and composition that all students deserve! We know that our working conditions are also our students’ learning conditions. Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation #skpoli

Since the Greater Victoria School District Police Liaison Program issue has the most incredible legs, here is a long response from my perspective, an elementary teacher in the system, and union representative. It starts by acknowledging that the issue has been a PR godsend for a struggling VicPD. 1/

Over 50 people gathered in Kelowna to write postcards to their MPs today for #RainbowEquality. I just counted 179 cards. The big stack of 99 is for Tracy Gray. We used the beautiful You Belong postcards from @AdvocacyCanada1

I am so sad to hear this. Jessie was direct, supportive, dedicated —one of my first connections when I became active in the labour movement & politics. I was always happy to see her because I knew she wouldn’t hold back in her opinions. Honoured to have crossed paths with her.
