Hello, America, if you're awake this early. Jim Inskeep' Alex Shackell is swimming butterfly leg in heats of 4x100 medley relay this morning. So she will be eligible for any medal won by USA Swimming in the final. She has a silver from 4x200 free relay heats.

BREAKING: Hoosiers Lilly King and Alex Shackell are #Olympics gold medalists. USA, with King on breaststroke, win 4x100 medley relay in a world record of 3:49.63 at #Paris2024. Because Shackell, of Carmel Swim Club, swam in heats, she also gets a gold medal.

Alex Shackell of Jim Inskeep/Carmel Swim Club wins gold medal as part of USA team setting world record. 50.95 Kate Douglass 51.38 Katharine Berkoff 52.01 Shackell 50.67 Gretchen Walsh This is fourth global relay medal for 18-year-old swimmer.

Because Alex Shackell of Jim Inskeep/Carmel Swim Club swam prelims, she also earns gold. The 18-year-old won four relay medals, including two golds, at short course World Championships.
