#mySLTday went to see a 28 yo male (ASD, ADHD) who can have difficulties fully engaging with services. Half way through assessment he looked at me and said "this is actually kinda fun". The best compliment 🥰

#mySLTday writing coms ax report & guidelines for a young autistic woman. Seen 4 times in 18 months by our liaison & diversion team and not 1 communication screen done. Only flagged to me by our neurodevelopmental service who had received referral. Disappointed. Not good enough.

"I'm quite sad I won't see you now" - the best compliment I can hope to receive as a clinician. As much as it's nice for colleagues and managers to recognise my work, nothing is better than knowing you've managed to give an individual a positive experience of services. #mySLTday

Finishing my report for a 17 yr old male with ADHD - referred to me with ongoing concerns re: communication. Some colleagues cynical about whether he would engage and whether SLT was really needed. Turns out he meets the criteria for Developmental Language Disorder. #mySLTday

Took one day of annual leave and came back to 3 appropriate referrals😅#mysltday

Just had an appointment with a chap who told me that his sister (a practicing AHP) had told him that "high-functioning people can't have autism". So much wrong with this statement on so many levels. #mySLTday

Service user just asked if we were vegetarian as he'd like to buy me a piece of meat for Christmas - obviously we said that was very kind but no need - but still made me grin like a Cheshire cat! exactly why I love my job. Happy Friday folks! #MySLTday

CC'd into an email whereby school feel that one of my CYPs has "no SEN needs". Couldn't help but feel slightly smug when responding with full assessment data showing that he appears to have significant SLCN and is performing below age equivalent peers #MySLTday

11.5 working days before I go on maternity leave. 3 assessments to complete, 3 sets of reports and recommendations to write and 4 handover meetings with education/ YJS. Oh and all the flagged emails... #mySLTday
