This is the kind of abuse our BBC Tech editor has received. Truly horrific. We all get sent abusive communications, but female colleagues get the worst of it — and it often takes the form of sexualised violent threats.

This is really worth a listen - you get a sense from this what the professionals & experts actually running our public services are faced with when dealing with the inertia of some (not all to be fair) senior civil service and NI Executive Ministers.

What makes this so bizarre is that the Justice Minister never stops telling the Assembly that policing isn't her responsibility. So why is her Department telling the Chief Constable who he can and can't write to??

We have a crisis in public service funding and instead of dealing with it, Executive Departments are starting fights over who sends letters to who? This is embarrassing, it looks so petty and we don’t have time for it. Ministers need to get a grip and get to work.

A legitimate concern - with chronically low house-building, high interest rates & poor availability of equity-share products, things are pricey enough for 1st time buyers without having to pay higher estate agent fees bc of any rise in online ad prices.

A welcome initiative from Paul Givan following Norma Foley T.D’s similar plans in the Republic. Jonathan Haidt’s highlighting of the dangers of mobile phones & social media for kids is having the desired impact. Can see the guidance we’ll have soon becoming law in the future.
