1. Pensioners overall have higher living standards, lower poverty & much lower destitution, deep poverty and food bank use than working age people. BUT a significant minority face severe hardship & that number set to grow. 1/11

As part of @endchildpoverty we handed in a giant unhappy birthday card to @Dwpgovuk to mark 7 yrs of the two-child limit to benefit payments.

Most benefit rates will rise by 6.7% today, due to the normal annual ‘uprating’ rules which match #inflation .

However, the basic rate of #UniversalCredit still won't be enough to cover people's basic essentials. That’s why we need Universal Credit to guarantee #OurEssentials .
