It’s been absolutely amazing to see the female force behind breast cancer research and treatment. For this I think we have to thank the trailblazers before us. Both men and women. It takes a village to fight this disease. Margaret Foti, PhD, MD (hc) thank you for the example you set for all of us.

It is with deep sorrow we share the passing of Dr. Deb Mueller. She was a remarkable friend, mentor, ally, teacher, advocate, inspiration and much more to each of us. 1/

She was a beacon of light to so many and now the world is a little less bright without her. Despite this, she leaves behind a lasting legacy not only at UTHSCSA but everywhere she touched. 2/

Well designed study just published in JAMA Oncology finds that omission of SLNB for cT1 N0 (via axillary imagining) breast cancer results in a noninferior DDFS and similar local regional control compared to SLNB at 5 years - further data to support surgical deescalation
