The effort spent on normalizing traffic violence is nothing short of amazing in the worst sense of the word. The auto industry has spent generations trying to convince people that this unprecedented mountain of corpses is just the 'cost of freedom' and completely unavoidable.

An estimated 2.7 million people suffer life-altering injuries every year in the US due to traffic violence. Of these, approximately 245,000 are classified as 'incapacitating' where the brain, spinal cord, and internal organs have been permanently damaged.
