I’m on vacation and promised I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit filming locations but… I mean, I’m standing on some holy ground in front of the Cornstalk Fence Hotel, where Charles Bronson filmed scenes for both Violent City AND Hard Times…

Happy centennial to Marlon Brando. In 1986, it was reported that he'd come out of his six-year acting hiatus to play the Red Skull in Cannon's Captain America. (When confronted about the rumor, director Michael Winner admitted he'd never even talked to Brando about the role.)

“Despite excellent performances from its two leads, DEEP IN THE HEART more or less vanished on release in the early 1980s — but given how little has changed in the four decades that have passed since, the film still lands with full impact in 2024.” REVIEW: tinyurl.com/23tw32u6

I don’t know which throws me off more about this ad: that Bronson is missing his mustache, or that he’s kinda smiling?

A sad farewell to the wonderful Lou Gossett Jr, who signed a three-film deal with Cannon in 1986. (Only Firewalker was ever produced.) His next Cannon project was to be 'The White Slave,' playing a cop investigating a modern-day slavery ring, written by Stirling Silliphant.

In 2.5 years, Menahem Golan directed this, The Apple, and Enter the Ninja — all in addition to acquiring Cannon from its original owners, setting up shop in a new country, serving as the face of the company, and producing a dozen other films. Busy few years!
