Founded in 1942, the Goldfish Club was for British aviators who survived ditching in the sea. Cloth patches (made from old tuxedo material due to shortages) were unofficial, and many survivors wore them hidden under their uniform lapels. #RAF #Survival

Guy Woods of Ouray, #Colorado joined the CEF in October of 1916. On August 21st, 1917, the 29th #Vancouver battalion suffered heavily at Hill 70. Woods was killed in action. A few months before, he had sent this photo to his mother. #OTD #WWI #FWW

Clarence Holt, born in #London England, was a postal clerk in Lethbridge #Alberta when he joined up in 1915. He served in France with the 82nd (#Calgary) Battn. Wounded in September 1916, he survived the war and returned to Canada in 1919. #FWW #WWI
