Just heading in to Westminster now. Looking forward to hearing from the speakers about the reportā€™s 12 recommendations. Pleased to see an emphasis on TiC training, roll out of antenatal education & birth afterthoughts models, &more equitable access to maternalMH services, & ++

Itā€™s been a busy & tough-going week. It has taken me a few days to process some of my thoughts about the #BirthTraumaInquiry report that was published on Monday after attending the launch event. I have put some of my reflections in a blog šŸ‘‡

Now the General Election has been announced, we've never been more clear on the commitment the next Gov needs to make to save babies' lives, improve maternity care & reduce inequities. Our Joint Policy Unit with @sandsuk has set out 5 steps to do this: bit.ly/4cxV2Eg

Letā€™s try some reframing. British communities lack opportunities for play & sport Childrenā€™s health & happiness at risk Decades of under investment in childrenā€™s health & wellbeing shows in teenagers quality of life Gov policies have consistently undervalued play & sport

Really interesting paper about which older adults are not opting into Talking Therapies and why. Lovely methodology that could be replicated for other under-represented groups.

This is such an important report. Maternal Mental Health Services are ground breaking (but Iā€™m biased as I led the team who wrote the policy to create them) but what this report shows is that they are only scratching the surface of the need. #MakeAllCareCount

The increase in the number of MMHS is welcome, providing life-changing support to more women, babies and families. However, the wide variation between services suggests there are not enough resources to meet the needs of the population. maternalmentalhealthalliance.org/MMHS #MakeAllCareCount

Waiting times for treatment in some areas are up to 52 weeks for Maternal Mental Health Services. This is time parents and babies donā€™t have: maternalmentalhealthalliance.org/MMHS #MakeAllCareCount
