Now, this week, the REC has suggested we reduce the proposed revenue forecast by 18 million dollars for this fiscal year and 70 million dollars for next fiscal year-and those numbers could be reduced even further. 2/3

The Speaker and I said two weeks ago that we cannot commit to spending money we don’t know we have, and, after being attacked by the Governor and the press, the REC just proved our point. 3/3

I, along with a group of legislators, met with Governor Edwards this afternoon. We were told that on January 19, he intends to present his budget and plan to address the shortfall to a joint legislative committee.
