: On 30 April 1951 CAPT James E. Crowley of Ladder Company No. 1 died in the line of duty from a heart attack fighting the fire at Box 124, the Statler Warehouse in Somerville, at 1903 hours.
He was Acting Deputy Chief.
Captain Crowley was 47 years old.

Engine 4 is out testing hydrants, working their way through the Rindge Av/Russell Field area of North Cambridge.
Hydrant testing not only ensures that we have a good waer supply for firefighting, it is also a factor in our Class 1 rating.
