If you want to grow Cambridge EWR is not a good approach. The chosen route does not support local plans, predicted passenger numbers are pathetic and the associated housing would just put lots more cars on the road.

The Elizabeth line cost £67,000 per London commuter. The borders railway was £100,000 per Edinburgh commuter. EWR would be £4million per Cambridge commuter. Why on earth are they still working on this project?

Also why did the transport secretary (before she resigned over an historic fraud conviction) say it would support 28000 Cambridge jobs and when their model says 2000? What are we coming to in this country?

By the end of this financial year EWR will have spent £446million just planning Bletchley to Cambridge and they still can’t explain the business case - beyond saying that some really important people think it’s a good idea.
