Calves gone out to the training pen today, get them ready to head out for grass soon 🤞 it'll definitely save a bit of time everyday too!

This shed back serving it's original purpose once more, no more calving for the spring. Been a few years since it housed animals for finishing. Autumn 23 Born stock in for finishing, hopefully out the gate in May 🤞

First half of 1st cut knocked yesterday along with the crop of forage rye. Few powerful days to get a good crop in the pit. Keeping all this 1st cut to one side for Autumn cows.

Forage rye and 1st half of 1st cut in and covered 👌 finished at approx. 13T/acre yield from the Rye. 7-8TDM/ha. Not bad from 26 units of Urea + slurry 🫣

Multi Species looking good now, but of spot spraying needed to tidy up a few areas but overall doing very well. Grass is the slowest to come, dry spell definitely affected it the most.

After a slow start for the MSS it's bombing it now and cattle look like they're doing very well on it. Mix of Spring 24 born and Sep 24 born stock grazing it. 100kgN/ha spread to date. Weather will dictate if it gets anymore before closing. DLF Seeds IRL

Very colourful shed this evening, all heifers sorted and marked for different bulls for AI tomorrow morning, makes loading guns a lot more straightforward and time friendly. Breeding ready to kick off at last! Vicious cycle starts again 🤣

Bit more colours on the go for the cows. Makes knowing which cow is due what bull a lot easier and once she's AI'd the tape is cut off. Anything to simplify the syncro 🤞 overall cows tipping at 2.24kgMS including autumn calvers 👌

All replacement calves near the end of their milk phase now. Just some of the later calves on milk for another few weeks but great to get numbers reduced for twice a day feeds, few extra heads about this year thanks to the lovely TB 🙈

Pair of Hereford bulls glam'd up with their new jewelry ready to make a debut with the cows, try get them trained up to the system before repeats of the sync come into action 🤞

Rye and triticale all in and covered now 👌 rye in a bit drier than the triticale but more fibrous material so probably less moisture to begin with.
