OSPR crew is responding to a vessel fire off the coast of Capitola. Two people were rescued and the fire was extinguished. So far, no fuel sheen has been observed, but responders are working to minimize the petroleum threat to the environment.

UPDATE: Response efforts have concluded for the vessel that caught fire and sank off coast of Capitola. Vessel was successfully re-floated and towed to Moss Landing. Minimal sheening was reported during the salvage operation. No visibly oiled wildlife observed.

OSPR crew and partner agencies are responding to a sunken fishing vessel at a Monterey County marina. Containment and sorbent booms were deployed around the vessel. A plan to re-float it and remove the pollution threat is underway. No visibly oiled wildlife observed.

UPDATE: Response efforts have concluded for the sunken vessel at a Monterey County marina. The vessel was successfully re-floated, with approximately 55 gallons of oily water mixture pumped out. The vessel was removed from the water. No visibly oiled wildlife observed.

OSPR crew responding to a tanker truck accident on Highway 17 in Santa Cruz County. The truck released product onto the roadway, but impacts to nearby creek unknown at this time.

UPDATE: Response efforts have concluded for the tanker truck accident on Highway 17 in Santa Cruz County. OSPR crew oversaw the safe removal of fuel from both tanks. The tanker has been towed out. No waterways were impacted and no visibly oiled wildlife observed.
