Great news for Central Fresno as El Super will be opening a new store in an old Sears location and adding 140 jobs for the community. fresnobee.com/living/food-dr…

“More is more, when it comes to grocery stores. The more there are, the better they all do." This story is a great primer on the benefits grocery stores provide community as an anchor tenant, and the level of investment required of the grocery industry to expand food access.

Instead of working to make California affordable, it appears many elected officials are reading from the same, tired playbook. And we already know how this turns out — the highest grocery prices in the country. ocregister.com/2025/05/21/how…

From the #caleg considering new laws to allow cities to sell stolen shopping carts back to grocers for a profit to restrictions to self-checkout, legislators are following the same playbook that caused this affordability crisis.

CA Grocers Assoc. (@calgrocers) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The #caleg should start by pressing pause on any bills that will increase prices on grocery store shelves. #SB442 and #SB753 are two bills that don't benefit Californians, but will cause prices to rise.

Ran into some grocers yesterday Sacramento County BOS meeting. We talked about the vandalism at Rancho San Miguel in Oak Park. They invited me to check out the store. What an awesome employee owned operation. Such friendly staff. And the selection! But wait there’s more👇

They are hiring. Store was opened to eliminate a food desert. They have good food safety practices. If you need ingredients for Mexican dishes, they got the goods. And did I mention the fresh chicharrones. I love pork rinds since I was little. Not big on chicken feet tho.

We’re sponsoring an effort to create more opportunities like this for grocers and communities to eliminate food deserts. Check out #SB18 by Senator Susan Rubio to learn more. 👉calmatters.digitaldemocracy.org/bills/ca_20252…

#caleg leaders have rightly called for focus on affordability, yet #SB753 by Dave Cortese would do the exact opposite. Ask him why you should pay higher grocery prices so cities can sell stolen shopping carts back to grocery stores? mercurynews.com/2025/06/22/opi…

Californians want life to be easier, not less convenient and more expensive. #SB442 by Lola Smallwood-Cuevas seeks to bog down self-checkout with more restrictions and rules. It will slow down the shopping experience while making groceries more expensive. #caleg
