I’ve been made aware of the situation unfolding on the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls. Our provincial law enforcement is actively engaged in assessing the situation. They are working with local law enforcement and are providing support as required.

As Canada and Ontario compete for new jobs and every dollar of investment, global companies need to have confidence in our ability to deliver major infrastructure projects. We will continue to ensure that Ontario is a place where we can build and do big things.

Now is the time for moral clarity. There can be no question or confusion. Israel has an absolute right to defend itself and its citizens against violence.

Today and always, we stand with Israel.

We have two choices: We can sit back & ignore the crisis or we can build more homes. Our government is choosing to build & that’s what the Building Faster Fund will achieve.

Along with strong mayor powers, this fund will speed up approvals & get homes built across Ontario now.

Interestingly enough, the Ontario Liberal Party | Parti Libéral de l'Ontario candidate turned mayor is opposing plans to build critical infrastructure outside her municipality while actively lobbying the province to develop this 50-acre parcel of provincial land for critical infrastructure.

In 2019, the former Pickering mayor wrote to the province describing the inclusion of the DRAP as “discriminatory” and that it “was inserted into the Greenbelt Plan at the 11th hour in 2005 by the Liberal Government - with no evidence, no notice, and no opportunity to consult.”

Not surprisingly, nowhere in this story does it include the fact the municipality has been advocating for the removal of these lands for 20 years.

It was in the report that was reported on yesterday.

I spoke with Mayor Mark Sutcliffe earlier today to offer any and all support that Ottawa needs. Everyone please stay safe.

Since we took office in 2018, Ontario has added 700,000 NEW JOBS as we continue to lead North America in job creation.

We have to ensure that Ontario continues to be a place where we can do and build big projects. Let’s continue building a stronger Ontario together.
