Today my graduate seminar in Canonical Sources had a tour of the Clementine Collection of rare books The Catholic University of America. Here is a magnificent manuscript of Gratian’s Decretum, written possibly as early as 1150. Another reason to study canon law School of Canon Law! Thank you CatholicU Special Collections.

This morning, April 3, 2025, Fr. Ladislas Orsy, S.J., Professor Emeritus of School of Canon Law at The Catholic University of America, died at the age of 103. He was an esteemed teacher to so many, a truly distinguished canonist, and a friend and mentor to numerous of his colleagues over the years.
