The Cubs also DFA'd Garrett Cooper so perhaps Mervis will get some run at DH. I'm rooting for the guy and, while he's off to a nice start at Triple-A this year, he also had a 14.3% SwStr rate down there. Strikeouts were a major issue in his time with the Cubs last year.

April stats just don't matter very much. This is unfortunate for people who really, really want to overreact to April, but there's just no real evidence to suggest that a hot or slow start really matters.
