We're joining Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Tina Smith in Washington D.C. today to support the bold introduction of the Homes Act, which will empower communities to build permanently affordable housing while creating hundreds of thousands of good-paying union jobs. nytimes.com/2024/09/18/opi…

🧵 We’re in the midst of a housing crisis—families choosing between rent & medicine, homes being bought up by corporate giants jacking up rent & homelessness at an all-time high. But it doesn’t have to be this way. That’s why we’re endorsing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & Senator Tina Smith’s Homes Act

CSS joined Council Member Pierina Sanchez, chair of the housing committee, to introduce the Housing Rescue and Resident Protection Act. The bill will reform a key but flawed city program that transfers poorly maintained buildings from negligent owners to responsible ones.

Today, we rallied with our allies to call on Mayor Eric Adams to implement #CityFHEPS laws, which were already passed by the NYC Council over a year ago. These reforms would expand the city's voucher program and house thousands of New Yorkers!
