We’ve been working to repair a damaged section of canal wall near Nutts Bridge in Hinckley. The wall and towpath are now fixed making the area safer for everyone that enjoys a visit to the Ashby Canal.

Been at Nether Lock on the #RiverTrent today with our diving contractor. Divers have been assisting our local team to install the huge stop planks ahead of our winter stoppage where lock repairs will take place 👌🏼👍🏽😁 Canal & River Trust East Midlands

The teams have been busy clearing debris from safety gates with our powered excavator boat. The safety gates close automatically if the canal is breached so are critical to the waterways network. We cleared a number of locations & then divers followed behind to inspect our work!

Volunteers at Trent Lock have done a lovely job of improving this rather drab bit of land at Trent Lock. Thanks to their efforts the area looks neater and more welcoming as well as giving better sight lines along the canal. Great work team👍

We’ve started a £4m programme of winter works on our waterways in the East Midlands. We’ll be replacing lock gates, repairing historic brickwork and dredging sections of canal to make them better for boaters.
