There are two groups downtown currently on the move causing traffic disruptions along First Street. Police resources are working hard to minimize traffic disruptions.

For my pilot friends, both of traditional crewed aircraft & RPAS (drones) take note of these well advertised restrictions, & remember to check the NOTAMS before hitting the skies to avoid being “invited” to fly in formation with some neat airplanes/meeting some of my friends.

2/5 Today the North American Aerospace Defense Command #NORAD, in support of the #ISSG had to deploy air assets after a private aircraft violated the air restrictions in Kananaskis air space.

3/5 Multiple steps were taken to gain the pilot’s attention who was able to safely land under their own power once contacted.

4/5 Two NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen) of temporary air restrictions over Calgary and Kananaskis, have been in place since June 14 at 6 am, and will continue to be enforced until June 17 at 11:59 pm local.

The traffic signals at Chaparral BV & Chaparral DR SE were flashing red for the last bit. Big thanks to the crew from City of Calgary who came out quickly when we called & got the lights working again. It was neat to see how complex these “simple” signals we blindly trust are.

There is significant rain in south #YYC right now. Please drive safe. This includes making sure your lights are on, avoiding large areas of standing water, not stopping under overpasses, & driving at a reasonable speed.
