A major new law has just been signed in Oregon that blocks private-equity firms from controlling healthcare practices. It's the strictest ban on corporate influence in medicine in the country.

Thank you to Gov. Tina Kotek and Rep. Ben Bowman for signing Oregon HB 951 into law. This bill is critical to ensuring only doctors with their patients (and not private equity) are able to make healthcare decisions.

Across my healthcare meetings at the FTC the most horrific stories always came from hospitals taken over by private equity. The land is sold out from under the hospital. ICU beds are staffed with 4 or 5 patients to a nurse. This is a huge day for Oregon.
