On Thursday, the Colorado Senate voted unanimously to send a resolution to voters that would close a loophole that currently entitles those charged with first-degree murder to bond.

HB24-1225 and HCR24-1002 passed unanimously in the Senate today. The resolution will now go to CO voters this Nov. who will decide whether to restore 1st degree murder as a non-bailable offense. Thank you Rhonda Fields for your commitment to keeping our communities safe.

HB24-1072 passes the House 63-2. The bill expands protections for sexual assault victims & will prohibit using a victim’s clothing/hairstyle as evidence to prove consent. This bill will reduce the amount of victim blaming/shaming & ensure survivors feel safe reporting.

HCR24-1002 and HB24-1225 will keep Colorado communities safe by restoring no-bond holds for 1st degree murder when the proof is evident and the presumption is great. The bills now head to the Senate.

HB24-1225 & HCR24-1002 pass the House 59-5. The measure will ask voters on the November 2024 ballot to amend the CO constitution & return to the status quo by allowing 1st Degree Murder defendants to be held in jail without bail in cases where judges find significant evidence.

Victims of sexual assault are one step closer to getting increase protections in Colorado.

HB24-1072 passes out of the House Judiciary Committee 10-1. The bill now goes to a full vote on the House floor.

HB24-1072 will prevent asking shaming and blaming questions to survivors like “What Were You Wearing?” at the time of sexual assault victims by prohibiting using the manner of dress as evidence of consent.
