It doesn't take much water to knock you over: 6 inches of fast-moving water is enough to sweep you off your feet, and 12 inches of water is enough to carry your car away. Don’t walk, swim or drive through floodwaters. Turn around, don’t drown!

If you've been evacuated due to fires like the #RedCanyonFire near Thermopolis, wait for official clearance before heading home; don't rush back. Watch for hazards like ash pits, gas leaks, downed lines & unstable structures. Even after the flames are out, hidden dangers remain.

It was an email from the quiet gym attendee that changed Raintree Athletic Club. A request to hold a Red Cross blood drive to pay forward kindness and help others, like the donors whose blood helped his daughter, Juno, in her battle with leukemia. redcross.org/local/colorado…

Labor Day might be the unofficial end of summer, but don’t let your guard down at the grill. Grilling causes more than 10,000 home fires on average each year. Always supervise grills when in use, and keep it out in the open — away from anything that can catch on fire.

In 2012, Myrna Candreia lost her home in a wildfire. She never forgot the kindness Red Cross volunteers gave to her in the aftermath. So when the opportunity appeared to give back in kind during the #LeeFire and #ElkFire, Myrna stepped in to volunteer. redcross.org/local/colorado…

Red Cross of Northern Colorado volunteers recently made a visit to NOCO Humane, where the Red Cross previously delivered blankets for animals at the shelter! The blankets are the perfect size for cats and dogs; those waiting for a new home like Jimbo certainly appreciate them.
