On this date in 2011, Mayor Vince Gray & a number of councilmembers (including Mayor Muriel Bowser, Tommy Wells 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️, Yvette M Alexander, Sekou Biddle & others) were arrested by US Capitol Police for blocking Constitution Avenue to protest Congressional budget riders & to call for DC voting rights

Breaking - an arrest has been made in last weeks killing of 14 yr old Avion Evans at the BROOKLAND Metro station. 2 sources familiar with the case tell NBC4 Washington a 16 year old male was arrested this morning. An announcement expected at 2PM

I’m getting sleepy!

2 young teens killed over the span of 48 hours in Washington DC. 14 year-old Irving Laboard of Northeast DC was shot & killed on a park playground on Ft. Dupont Dr in Southeast. 14 year-old Avion Evans of Northeast was shot & killed yesterday afternoon at Brookland-CUA Metro.

NEW: The owner of Mayfair Mansions, a 410-unit affordable housing complex in Ward 7, will pay more than $1 million and make additional investments to improve the health and safety of its residents as part of a settlement agreement with my office.

I’ve been briefed on the earthquake with an epicenter in New Jersey, and we are not reporting any major disruptions to DC residents at this time.

We will continue working with our regional and local partners to monitor and respond to potential impacts in the District.

Hopefully the Ward 7 Council staff gets our Fair Shot in this budget.
