This is one of the most undemocratic moments I’ve seen in Seattle. 25K voters across the city signed a petition to send I-137 to the ballot this November. Today was the deadline. Instead, Council cut public comment short and voted 7-1 to remove I-137 on our agenda.

So excited to receive my copy of D2 constituent Anna Zivarts’ book: When Driving Is Not An Option. Anna and her advocacy with Disability Mobility Initiative have shaped the transportation policy my office proposes for the better. Congratulations on this amazing feat, Anna! Can’t wait to dig in.

This is the last week of WA-BLOC’s Freedom Schools Summer Program, and my 6th year as a guest reader. This year we read Sherman Alexie’s “Thunder Boy Jr.” I’m proud to support WA-BLOC’s restorative practices programming in our schools to create safe & empowering learning spaces.

It was great to see neighbors at the Rainier Arts Center last night to discuss the Comprehensive Plan. We have a lot of work to do, and I appreciate Futurewise, CACE21, Puget Sound Sage, and the Crescent Collaborative for their continued engagement & collaboration!

Heartbroken to learn of Tamara Murphy's passing this weekend. She epitomized farm to table and we crossed paths in our work to support our local farms & local food economy. Her impact on Seattle's food scene is everywhere and she will be dearly missed. seattletimes.com/life/food-drin…

We must keep our promise to Seattle's kids. Tomorrow, the Council will vote on a bill that would cut student mental health funding by 50 percent. I am, once again, bringing forward an amendment to stop that from happening & restore the full 20 million. kuow.org/stories/seattl…

Councilmember Tammy J. Morales (@cmtammymorales) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The final vote on my amendment will be this afternoon at 2pm. Please join us in Council Chambers or virtually to testify about why this funding for our students is critical.

This Council broke our promise to fully fund student mental health investments, all while digging our budget deficit even deeper. This isn't over. We cannot go backwards as a City. It's time to double down and continue the fight this Fall during our budget deliberations.

Our young people are our future. I was humbled to join Shae Huppert, ASB President at Garfield High School, and Ryan Croone, a Youth Community Advocate, to discuss mental health funding and youth involvement in Seattle, on Converge Media. More here: whereweconverge.com/post/tammy-mor…

I had a blast playing pickleball for the first time in Rainier Beach last month. Our office was successful in securing $50K for additional pickleball nets so that people across the city can have greater access to this sport. Thanks SeattleMetro Pickleball Association for hosting me and my team! 💪🏼

“The report recommends cities reduce barriers to housing development by making it easier for smaller and newer organizations… to secure government projects, provide subsidized low-interest loans or grants, and easing approval processes and requirements.”

"We cannot discuss solutions to physical safety without addressing the lack of mental health and social wellness support in schools. I know that if we have the resources that we need, we will be a safer community; there is a foundational connection between them."
