Here we see two large helium tanks that were installed at CERN’s Point 1 (Meyrin, Switzerland) in June, for the high-luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider. Two more have been installed at Point 5 in July. They will store the helium for the refrigerators that will cool

They will store the helium for the refrigerators that will cool the HL-LHC’s new focusing magnets installed on both sides of the ATLAS Experiment and @CMSexperiment. Around 130 tons of helium are needed to cool the superconducting magnets of the #LHC and its experiments.
