Delighted to collaborate on this excellent work led by J. Weiss Vineet Raghu Kaavya Paruchuri Michael Lu Mass General Heart using deep learning of widely used chest X-rays to augment current paradigms for statin allocation in primary prevention acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/M2… Annals of Int Med
1/7 🔍 Selective Use (a 🧵): Our latest study, published in Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging, evaluated the selective addition of CT Fractional Flow Reserve (CT-FFR) to Coronary CT Angiography (CTA) to identify patients who might benefit from further evaluation/revascularization.

Not all patients warrant CT-FFR analysis, which comes at a significant added cost; our service thus opted to utilize it selectively. We most commonly requested for those with potential but not definite anatomically significant stenoses (CAD-RADS ≥3).

We do this carefully; all exams are monitored and nitroglycerin prep is used unless contraindicated.

Goiffon, MD, PhD Vinit Baliyan BorekFoldyna Nina Meyersohn Sandeep Hedgire Brian with the Good Dictations MGH Cardiovascular Imaging Research Center Mass General Imaging 7/7🏥 Why It Matters: CTA is a mainstay in CAD due to its high NPV, and the addition of CT-FFR to enhance PPV proves most valuable when it might alter management. Our “selective use” strategy, awaiting CTA interpretation to decide on CT-FFR, confirms its efficacy in our practice

If you’re around & interested in using #AI-based imaging #biomarkers to gauge #PrecisionMedicine , come check out our work at number 28!
10-year ASCVD risk prediction leads to older individuals being prioritized for statins missing opportunities for earlier risk recognition & prevention. Our work led by Sarah Urbut uses genetics & dynamic risk factor trajectories toward intersecting risk *early.*
In this paper on stress & CVD, we find a novel association between disruptions in the uncinate fasciculus and carotid atherosclerotic burden. Grateful to Ahmed Tawakol zahifayad for this opportunity and to Dave Mandy van Leent for all the help! academic.oup.com/eurheartj/arti…

We had the pleasure to present our findings on the impact of air pollution in different risk groups, an analysis led by Isabel Langenbach. The results might affect management of patients at higher CV risk. Thanks to Ritu Thamman MD for a great discussion. #SCCT2024 MGH Cardiovascular Imaging Research Center Heart_SCCT
