The annual Burning Man event took place last week in the Black Rock Desert, located in Nevada. The lights that illuminated from the many people that gathered there could be seen from JPSS satellites.

Typhoon Yagi quickly strengthens into a very strong storm over the South China Sea. Yagi is expected to slowly approach the China-Vietnam border in the coming days.

Skies from the Pacific to the Atlantic are infiltrated by wildfire smoke. Smoke from fires on the US west coast gets caught up in a low circulating over the intermountain west, while wildfires in Canada see their smoke observed as far away as the Midwest and east coast.

Five tropical disturbances are spread out across the Atlantic Ocean basin. The area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico has been bringing constant showers and thunderstorms to the Texas and Louisiana coasts over the last several days.

In the Pacific Northwest, wildfires scorch lands and billow smoke into the atmosphere. In Oregon, the Rail Ridge Fire has grown to nearly 83,000 acres since it ignited on September 2nd.
