It's been "complete madness" in Gaza since day 1 of the war. I think what this reveals is that Biden served as a brake on Europe acting more forcefully by insisting that only "no daylight" support for Israel could improve the situation. With Trump, that pretense is gone.

The murder of a young couple who worked for the Israeli embassy as they were coming out of a community event at the Capital Jewish Museum is horrifying. May their memories be a blessing. Political violence and antisemitism are unacceptable and should be unequivocally condemned.

The constant denial of this fact is the foundational lie upon which the Biden administration’s policy, and now Trump’s, was built. The architects of that policy need to be made to answer for it.

This wasn’t inevitable. It was a policy choice. The starvation, the killings, the flattening of Gaza could have been stopped. Instead, they were enabled—primarily by the U.S.—as a genocide unfolded in full view.

The guardrails of international #law, #multilateralism, and the #rules-based order may appear under strain, but they are far from extinct. The collective will of nations to uphold #globaljustice through multilateral systems remains strong and resilient. #YerevanDialogue2025

The biggest problem of the transactional approach to #foreignpolicy is that it neglects the requirements of the people adversely affected and denies #justice to those who need it most. #YerevanDialogue2025

The foundations of international #justice are already in place—what’s needed now is the collective will to cooperate. #Crimes like #money laundering and tax avoidance transcend #borders and demand coordinated #globalaction. #YerevanDialogue2025

🚨Trump said yesterday that a deal with Iran could be reached in “weeks.” CNN reports the two sides are closing in on a “broad agreement” that could be clinched at their next meeting. Laura Rozen adds a “political framework” may be finalized before the June 9–10 IAEA board meeting.

The attack in Boulder against people peacefully marching for the freedom of hostages is antisemitic terrorism that should have no place in our country or anywhere else. The dehumanizing and devaluing of lives amid and in response to the war in Gaza—like the war itself—must stop.

🧵The Trump admin has paused new sanctions on Iran while sending a proposal for a deal. That’s not weakness—it’s a strategic goodwill gesture & first step towards serious diplomatic progress. This WSJ editorial calling this “exploited goodwill” gets the dynamic backwards. >>>
