JAKis are increasingly used in #IMIDs but raise the risk of viral infections. A TYK2 inhibitor may be less harmful to our intestinal antiviral defense system, making it a potentially superior choice for those at risk of #T1D. Had a fantastic time visiting Rich Stanton Dr. Ceri Fielding and colleagues at Cardiff University this week - exciting science paired with lovely hospitality in a great environment. There are still many lessons to learn from interactions between our immune system and #viruses 🦠

Thrilled to announce the publication of our latest research in Nature Immunology. Joining forces with 20 laboratories in Europe and USA, we identified the three prominent NK cell subsets in human: NK1, NK2, and NK3: rdcu.be/dMuAs

late late MAIT cell alert at the final poster session of #ICMI2024! Find me at poster 102 to talk about these underrepresented mucosal T cells in human organs studied by Johan K. Sandberg and Center for Infectious Medicine. Like said in the beginning of the congress: “The blood just doesn’t cut it!”

Back to the thesis project after a fantastic #ICMI2024 by the Society for Mucosal Immunology in Copenhagen! Was great to have a look at what’s out there besides the little T cell niche I am normally looking at. Travelling by train gave me some time to look at the 397 congress abstracts...(1/n)🧵

Enteroviruses cause a spectrum of diseases (also linked to #T1D), lack vaccines and treatments underscoring the urgency for vaccine development and international cooperation. Sharing the news on MAIT cell adaptation in human tissues! Many CIMers, transplantation surgeons and organ donors contributed to this project which is part of the Immunology Human Organ Donor Program (IHOPE).
