I heard the sad news at the weekend that the wood engraver Simon Brett died on 29 December. Well known for his his book illustrations (simonbrett-woodengraver.co.uk), he also cut my bookplate for me in 2005.

Rare example of a surviving charter by a medieval Irish King held by the National Library of Ireland - from the early 1180s it is a charter of Domnall Mór Ua Briain in which he styles himself 'Donaldus Obreyn, by the grace of God, king of Limerick'.

RIA Library is pleased to announce our participation in the CERL Internship Placement and Grant scheme for 2025. The RIA Library project aims to describe & sample provenance marks in the collection of Charles Haliday (1789–1866), for the Provenance Digital Archive (PDA) of CERL.
