Two first-grade teachers wanted to ease students' transition to socially distanced classrooms, so they turned the tri-fold plastic dividers they were given into Jeeps, with the plastic dividers functioning as the cars' windshields & windows. Love this! msn.com/en-us/news/goo…

If your child (often a middle schooler) doesn't want to be on camera, ask why. Much of the time, it's not because they don't want others to see THEM -- it's distracting to see THEMSELVES. If that's the case, they can minimize self-consciousness by hiding their own video window.

COVID has caused a sudden obsession with making sure kids have “stuff” to do. Teachers are feeling the pressure to fill high amounts of live class time with compliance based lectures that fail to cultivate mastery. Keeping kids busy is not the same thing as keeping kids engaged.

Why do educators create authentic projects? Because those projects can come back to show you their social impact and longevity. Nearly 15 years ago, my students sent care packages to my friend Joe McNamara in Afghanistan. Thank you for your service and for making my day!
