2023 was the deadliest year on record for humanitarians. Honouring them on #WorldHumanitarianDay is not enough. In Gaza, in Sudan & many other places, aid workers are attacked, killed, injured & abducted. We demand an end to impunity so that perpetrators face justice.

Humanitarian operations coordinated by the United Nations provided life-saving aid to more than 140 million people last year. On #WorldHumanitarianDay, I salute their courage, their determination, and their service to humanity.

The drought in #Namibia has left 1.2 million people hungry. Those facing the highest health risks include: 🔴pregnant women, 🔴breastfeeding mothers, 🔴young children I am allocating $3M from CERF - The UN's emergency fund so that life-saving assistance can reach those most affected.

Millions of people live in hopeless protracted crises year after year. This $100 million CERF - The UN's emergency fund allocation aims to alleviate some of the suffering of those caught up in conflict, displacement, & climate emergencies. I urge donors to keep their eyes on these underfunded crises.
