Two days into the year and I've already written a whole book👍 Admittedly, I did have a two year head start. Can't wait to share it with you all! Coming to bookstores near you in August 2025.

A good thread about conferences; the number of jobs is small, the costs are high (especially for contingent faculty members and graduate students), and the environmental impacts of cross-country/international air travel, people should be comfortable with voicing reservations

The same people who mocked English and humanities degrees as "unserious" or "easy" compared to STEM or business degrees are now making posts about how they need ChatGPT to "translate" classic novels into "modern English."

So many good modern European microhistories published in the last few decades. Would be awesome if somebody could map them all out!

I think some behaviors need to be socially shamed, like using AI to generate a novel or chatbots to write grocery lists. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.
