This morning Dee Dee Myers and I had an engaging discussion with Don Howard of the Irvine Foundation on how we are working to create jobs from the ground up, letting regions decide what holds the most promise for them in our #JobsFirst initiative. Thank you to California Forward for hosting us.

Today after a stop with Governor Gavin Newsom on his Jobs First Tour, I had the pleasure of stopping by the one-stop employment center in Colusa County that I ran for seven years in partnership with Yuba College. Such collaboration is a more seamless way to serve trainees and employers.

Pleased that Governor Gavin Newsom chose CSUS Stanislaus as the place to highlight the North San Joaquin Valley’s Jobs First regional economic plan. As Stan State President Britt Rios-Ellis so eloquently put it: “We live and breathe social mobility.”

Today, on Workers Memorial Day, we honor the many workers who lost their lives from workplace hazards. The Labor Agency’s mission is to help ensure a safe workplace. Remember to speak up if you see something dangerous at work. Together we can make workplaces safer for everyone.
