#LoaferDWR [update] One way we maximize the effectiveness of a broadcast burn is by creating piles of dead brush and timber within the burn area. By collecting the fuel into a pile, we get better consumption of the fuels than if they were just laying loose on the ground.

#LoaferDWR [update] When we say "control" burn, we mean it. We light a fire so it burns away all the fuel on the ground, but doesn't climb up and burn the trees. By lighting fire off our pre-constructed containment lines, we make sure our control burns stay where we want them to.

CAL FIRE/Butte County Firefighters in Bangor responded to a unique call this morning. An owl had gotten its wing stuck in a barbed wire fence. The firefighters cut the fence to free the owl, gently wrapped it up and took it back to the fire station. Great work guys!

October's call for service. Reminder: Check the batteries in your smoke detectors! A working detector is one of the simplest ways to protect your home and keep your family safe. 🏠❤️
