Susanville – Effective Wednesday, May 1, 2024, the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Lassen-Modoc Unit will require dooryard burning permits for residential burning within Lassen, Modoc, and Plumas Counties.

On the morning of Saturday, June 22, 2024, CALFIRE Bieber Helitack conducted a hoist rescue for a victim who had fallen from a cliff in the area of Pine Creek Reservoir, southeast of Alturas, CA.

Tuesday, July 2, 2024, CAL FIRE, the USFS, & Little Valley FD responded to a wildland fire south of Little Valley in NW Lassen Co. The fire burned in a forested area & was stopped at just over 1 acre. Firefighters will be working on mop up into the night.

November 1, 2024 - Burning will be permitted again with a valid burn permit. See attached News Release for details.
